Here are a few frequently asked questions that I've had over the years...
How tall are you?
I am grateful to be 5' 11 1/2 " tall. My parents and grandparents always pointed out all of the benefits of being tall and encouraged me to be proud of my height.
Did you play sports since you are so tall?
Yes! I was fortunate to play basketball for the University of MN-Duluth. I also played volleyball in high school, and softball in junior high.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Forest Lake, MN with my two amazing parents, one younger sister, and one younger brother.
Where did you go to college?
I received my Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of MN-Duluth. I received my Master's of Education from UWRF.
Were you always a teacher?
No, after graduating from UMD I spent 3 years in the Marketing/Advertising field for a large international corporation. I quickly advanced and met many of my career goals, but along that journey realized that my heart was not in earning money for a business. Rather, my passion was with working with kids. This realization came as I had different opportunities to work with kids through organizations such as Junior Achievement and Sunday school. I resigned from the business world and entered the post-baccalaureate MSE program at UWRF. I have never looked back!
Who is in your family?
I have an amazing husband (Jason) and two awesome kids: Nathan who is 14 and Anna who is 12. We also have a sweet cat, Holly, that Santa brought for the kids 4 years ago and two Guinea pigs, Demi and Iris.
Where do you live?
We live in Hammond! Yes, it is a long drive, but as long as the deer stay away and the roads aren't icy, it's not too bad!
Packers or Vikings? Gophers or Badgers? Twins or Brewers?
Hmmm...good questions that always come up. I am a fan of Packer and Badger football, Gophers volleyball, and Gophers basketball. I also cheer on the Twins and Lynx.
What are some of your "favorites?"
Tacos, soup, guacamole & chips, green, summer, Courageous, Blind Side, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Harry Potter, Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, Phillip Phillips, Tenth Avenue North, Third Day, Mumford & Sons, UMD, jeans & a sweatshirt, camping, watching my kids' sports activities, spending time with my family, exercising (hopefully training for my fourth triathlon this summer!).
